Body and Mind Yoga Therapy
Hi! I’m Jen
I’m a certified yoga therapist, psychotherapist, Ayurvedic yoga specialist, and lifelong student of healing with over 20 years of experience practicing and studying yoga. I hold a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology and specialize in supporting individuals navigating PTSD, anxiety, depression, chronic health conditions, and the lasting effects of stress and trauma. My approach is grounded in compassion, curiosity, and the deep belief that healing is possible.
I’m honored to work with clients who are ready to use yoga therapy not just as a practice, but as a pathway—one that helps restore physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing at a pace that feels safe and sustainable. I’m a devoted student in the Viniyoga lineage, a tradition rooted in ancient wisdom and uniquely designed to adapt yoga to the individual. This therapeutic model honors your story, your body, and your goals.
My journey into yoga therapy began in my teenage years as my struggles with mental health showed up physically—through digestive distress, sleep issues, headaches, and persistent nightmares. My physical symptoms worsened into adulthood and eventually led to a diagnosis of ulcerative colitis, an autoimmune disease that attacks the large intestine. Soon after my diagnosis, yoga therapy became an anchor in my life. Alongside other supportive tools, including psychotherapy, lifestyle changes, and appropriate medical care, yoga helped me move toward lasting balance. Today, my autoimmune disease is controlled, and my mental health is well-managed.
I've worked with a yoga therapist since 2016 to support my growth and healing, and I continue to study under the guidance of my teacher and mentor, Chase Bossart. The Viniyoga model allows practitioners to be both dedicated students and compassionate guides. This dual path keeps my work grounded, attuned, and deeply personal.
Whether you’re facing physical distress, emotional pain, or the wear and tear of chronic illness, I’m here to walk alongside you with respect, gentleness, and a commitment to your unique healing journey.
What Is Yoga Therapy?
You’ve probably experienced yoga before—maybe in a class at a gym or studio where the teacher guides everyone through a series of poses. While these group classes can be helpful, they usually follow a one-size-fits-all approach that might not fully address your individual needs.
Yoga therapy turns that idea upside down. When you work with a Yoga Therapist, you get personalized, one-on-one guidance that’s customized just for you.
A Yoga Therapist has special training to help you explore and connect deeply with your body, your breath, and your mind. This can lead you to a greater understanding of yourself and help you become more present in your daily life. When you’re truly present, you spend less time worrying about the future or dwelling on the past.
Yoga therapy draws from ancient practices that have supported people’s well-being for thousands of years. While there are many yoga techniques, the ones you’ll most often use in yoga therapy include movement, breathing exercises, meditation, and chanting. Your therapist will also introduce you to yoga philosophy, helping you better understand your behavior and how you relate to the world around you.
““Went to see Jen Brandt full of discomforts and looking for relief. This is what I received and I heartily recommend her to you. She developed a program specifically for me. She sent me home with a treatment plan for the future. Along with my subjective program, she also gave me a diagram with figures showing the exercises.””
